Highway 52 detour at I-90 postponed to Sept. 28-30 for bridgework, paving
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The planned closure and detour of Highway 52 at Interstate 90 southeast of Rochester has been postponed to Sept. 28-30 as crews finish work on the I-90 bridge and paving on Highway 52, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Heavy rains and wet weather have postponed the work that was originally planned for Sept. 22-24.
The new schedule will close Highway 52 beginning at 1 a.m., Monday, Sept. 28 and be completed by 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30. All of Highway 52 will be closed near I-90, including access to the flyover bridge for southbound Highway 52 to eastbound I-90. Highway 52 will reopen to traffic once the work is completed. Westbound I-90 to northbound Highway 52 will be open.
During that time, construction crews will remove temporary bridge work on the I-90 westbound bridge over Highway 52, paint the bridge rails and beams, complete the final pavement on northbound and southbound Highway 52, and install temporary striping.
Detours
Northbound Highway 52 motorists should go north at Olmsted County Road 7 north of Chatfield to I-90 and merge onto westbound I-90. Use Exit 217 to go northbound on Highway 52 to Rochester.
Southbound Highway 52 motorists should exit onto Highway 63 southbound in Rochester, travel south to I-90 at Stewartville. Merge onto eastbound I-90 and exit at Exit 224 at Eyota. Travel south on Olmsted Co Rd 7 to Highway 52 north of Chatfield.
Eastbound I-90 motorists who want to travel south on Highway 52 will exit at Exit 224 at Eyota. Travel south on Olmsted Co Rd 7 to Highway 52 north of Chatfield. Eastbound motorists who want to travel
Westbound I-90 motorists exit at Exit 224 at Eyota to travel south on Highway 52. Travel south on Olmsted Co Rd 7 to Highway 52 north of Chatfield. To travel north on Highway 52, use Exit 217 onto northbound Highway 52.
