Highway 19 and Rice County Road 2 intersection detour begins May 4 for roundabout construction north of Lonsdale

LONSDALE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter a detour at the intersection of Highway 19 and Rice County Road 2 beginning May 4 for roundabout construction north of Lonsdale, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Work is expected to be completed in July. In addition to the roundabout construction, crews will be installing new lighting, accessibility improvements and a snow fence.

Detours

The intersection will be closed during  construction and motorists will be detoured.
Motorists traveling on County Road 2, west of the work zone, can use this detour route:

  • Go south on County Road 52, east on County Road 59 and north on County Road 4 which intersects with Highway 19.
  • Motorists east of the work zone can use the above detour route in reverse.

Motorists traveling on Highway 19, north of the work zone, can use this detour route:

  • Go east on County Road 6, south on County Road 96, west on County Road 96 and south on County Road 33 which intersects with Highway 19.
  • Motorists south of the work zone can use the above detour route in reverse.
