Summary of work
Construction of a roundabout at Hwy 19 and Rice Co. Rd. 2 is scheduled to begin May 4, 2026 north of Lonsdale to improve intersection safety and traffic mobility. Work is expected to be completed in July.
Benefits of a roundabout
- Significantly reduce the risk of serious and fatal crashes
- Allows motorists to get through the intersection more safely and in less time
- Handle more traffic with less delay than most stop signs or traffic signals
- Slow traffic down to make entering and exiting the area easier for all users

Traffic impacts
Hwy 19 and Rice Co. Rd. 2 will be closed at the work zone.
Motorists traveling on Co. Rd. 2, west of the work zone, can use this detour route:
- Go south on Co. Rd. 52, east on Co. Rd. 59 and north on Co. Rd. 4. Follow SW Rail St. then go north on Co. Rd. 33 which intersects with Co. Rd. 2.
- Motorists east of the work zone can use the above detour route in reverse.
Motorists traveling on Hwy 19, north of the work zone, can use this detour route:
- Go east on Co. Rd. 6, south on Co. Rd. 96, west on Co. Rd. 2 and south on Co. Rd. 33 which intersects with Hwy 19.
- Motorists south of the work zone can use the above detour route in reverse.
