Summary of MnDOT work

  • MnDOT is reconstructing Highway 19/College Drive from 700 ft west of Marlene St through the intersection of Bruce Street in the City of Marshall.
  • The City of Marshall is replacing sanitary sewer and water main utilities.
  • A single-lane roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Highway 19/College Drive, Country Club Drive, and South 2nd Street.
  • An EV Charging Station will be installed in the Avera parking lot.
  • Sidewalk improvements will be made along the project area to improve accessibility.
  • Several traffic control changes throughout the route will be made to enhance safety.
  • A bike lane will be striped from Marlene St. to just west of Fairgrounds Rd.
  • Trees will be replanted in the fall of 2026(PDF). Tree selections can be viewed here(PDF), please note, these are subject to change.

Work zone: Main Street to Liberty Park Bridge

  • Concrete paving is complete at the Lyon Street crossing.
  • ADA components continue to be poured at the intersections.
  • Concrete sidewalk installation continues.
  • Concrete work at Addison parking lot continues.
  • Underground electrical work is complete.
  • Street light bases are installed.
  • Work on the Liberty Park Bridge is paused until further notice.

Work zone: Main Street / East College Drive intersection (Highways 19, 59 and 68)

  • Concrete paving is complete.
  • ADA work is nearly complete.
  • Bituminous paving nearly complete.
  • Signal system underground work is finished.
  • Signal system controller and cabinet electrical is installed.

Work zone: Bruce Street / Highway 19 intersection 

  • Watermain installation is nearly complete.
  • Grading of the roadway has begun.
  • Storm sewer installation is nearly complete.

Work zone: Legion Field Bridge to Main Street 

  • Crews worked on roundabout maintenance.

Main Street to Liberty Park Bridge

  • Concrete paving will begin on the Redwood Street crossing.
  • ADA component installation continues at intersections.
  • Concrete sidewalk installation continues.
  • Street light support poles are scheduled to begin installation.
  • Concrete work in the Addison Parking Lot will be completed.
  • Bridge work on Liberty Park Bridge is paused.

Main Street/ East College Drive intersection

  • Permanent pavement markings will be completed.
  • ADA components will be completed.
  • Installation of Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) push buttons, which help people safely across the street, will begin.
  • Sidewalks are scheduled to be completed.
  • Signal system components are nearly complete.
  • Signal system signage is scheduled for completion.

Bruce Street/ Highway 19 intersection

  • Watermain installation is scheduled for completion.
  • Dirt work is nearly complete.

Legion Field Bridge to Main Street on Highway 19 (Year 1 project area)

  • Maintenance work on the roundabout and installed items will continue.
Liberty Park Bridge to Bruce Street on Highway 19
  • Pavement removals between High Street and Hill Street will begin. This will affect High Street, Witney Street, and Hill Street.
  • Sanitary sewer installations will start.

Traffic access and impacts

    • Liberty Park Bridge to Bruce Street
      • Changes effective Monday, June 22:
        • North 3rd Street to Park Avenue is open.
        • High Street to Hill Street at Highway 19 is closed.
          • Watch for temporary crossings as construction progresses.
    • The Bruce Street / East College Drive intersection is closed.
      • Businesses are open and can be accessed from either Highway 19 west from North 3rd Street or Highway 19 east from Highway 23.
      • Starting Monday, June 22, local businesses can be accessed from Minnesota Street.
    • Main Street to Liberty Park Bridge on Highway 19 is closed.
      • Traffic must use the detour on Lyon County Road 7 and Highway 23.
    • Main Street / Highway 19 intersection is closed.
      • Weather permitting, it is scheduled to open around June 26.
      • Traffic should use Lyon County Road 33 and Highway 23.
    • West Lyon Street is open at Highway 19.
    • Alleys between West Lyon Street and West Redwood Street, and between West Redwood Street and West Marshall Street are closed at Highway 19.
    • West Redwood Street and West Marshall Street are closed to cross at Highway 19.
    • Highway 19 is open to local traffic at Minnesota Street.
    • Businesses within the work zone remain open.
    • Addison public parking lot is open
    • Please watch for pedestrians.
