Traffic impacts
A detour on Highway 30, west of the airport, will occur at Willow Creek during the box culvert replacement.The detour is scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 21. It's anticipated that the work will be completed Oct. 9.
- Motorists south of the closure wanting to access Highway 63 should go south on Olmsted County Road 8, east on 10th Street NW, north on 11th Avenue W and east on 20th Street NW to reach Highway 63.
- The detour will affect motorists who use Highway 30 coming from Hayfield and residents and delivery drivers south of the closure on the west side of the airport.
- The detour will not affect motorists who access Highway 30 from Highway 63 to go to Rochester International Airport or the businesses to east and north of the airport.
Summary of work
Construction started Aug. 3, 2026 on Highway 30 near the Rochester International Airport. Work is anticipated to be completed in late September.
Work includes:
- Resurfacing from Highway 30 from 90th Street SW to Highway 63 (completed)
- Repairing several culverts and making other drainage improvements (completed)
- Replacing culvert at Willow Creek (Sept. 21 to Oct. 9)
