Hwy 210 opens to four lanes :)

Here's what to expect starting Mon, Oct. 26:

  • Hwy 210 opens to two lanes, each way between Pine Shores Rd. and S Sixth St.
  • The multi-lane roundabouts at Co. Rd. 3 and C St./Hwy 25 will open be fully operational.
    • Watch for pedestrians crossing at the roundabouts. Pay attention to flashing yellow signs.
    • Hwy 25 between Hwy 210 and 10th Ave. NE will remain open on the temporary connection until spring 2027 when it will be reconstructed.
  • 10th Ave. NE. will remain closed until mid-November to complete work.
  • Gillis Ave./13th St. SE will be right-in/right-out turns only until the Hwy 210 signal system arrives and installed in early December.
    • Note: CenterPoint Energy will close 13th St. SE/Crow Wing Co. Rd. 45 starting Tue, Oct. 27 for gas-main work. Contact CenterPoint Energy with questions.
  • The Oak St. temporary mini roundabouts at Eighth St. and 13th St. SE will be removed by Thu evening, Oct. 29. Follow detour via local streets when intersection closes to complete this work.
  • Expect off-road work year round along Hwy 210 in Brainerd

Detour

Hwy 210 - C St./Hwy 25 to N 10th St.

Road closed to all traffic and detoured to reconstruct the railyard segment.

  • Eastbound Hwy 210: Use S Sixth St. (Business Hwy 371), Oak St. and Hwy 25
  • Westbound Hwy 210: Use Hwy 25, Oak St. and S Eighth St.
    • Note: New roundabouts open to one-lane traffic at C St./Hwy 25 and Co. Rd. 3 (Mill Ave.) until all four lanes open this fall

Building a better Brainerd

MnDOT will reconstruct and improve the Washington St. (Hwy 210) through Brainerd from Baxter Dr. to Pine Shores Rd. in 2026 and 2027.

Hwy 210

  • Reconstruct (mall, railyard, downtown, bridge segments) or resurface (east and west segments) the road
  • Reconstruct curbs, gutters, raised medians and storm sewers
  • Update signal systems
  • Remove signal systems at Mill Ave. and 4th Ave. NE
  • Realign and improve access at the Hwy 210 and Hwy 25/Mill Ave., includes two roundabouts
  • Upgrade city utilities beneath the road
  • Upgrade pedestrian sidewalks and approaches and reconstruct/connect the Cuyuna Lakes Trail
  • Update the Mississippi River bridge
