About the collapse
On Aug. 1, 2007 the I-35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis collapsed. The new bridge opened at 5 a.m. on Sept. 18, 2008.
On Aug. 1, 2007, Minnesota suffered a tragedy of historic proportions when the I-35W bridge (bridge 9340) over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis collapsed. Our hearts continue to go out to the victims, families and others affected by the collapse.
