85th Street bridge repairs over Hwy 52 north of Rochester begin Aug. 20
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Repairs will begin on Aug. 20 of the 85th Street bridge over Highway 52 north of Rochester, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
During the repairs motorists will experience short-term detours and lane closures while crews complete bridge demolition, beam setting and deck pour work during the project. MnDOT reminds motorists to plan and anticipate traffic slowdowns when encountering detours or lane closures.
Starting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 28 Highway 52 Southbound will be closed until 5 a.m. on Aug. 31. During the closure a detour route will be in place. Northbound Highway 52 will remain open.
The southbound traffic detour route is as follows: Highway 52 southbound, take Exit 64, turn left (east) on Olmsted County Road 112/ 100th Street NW, turn right (south) on Olmsted County Road 112/ 18th Avenue NW, turn right (east) on 55th Street NW, then take the ramp to Highway 52.
The bridge was struck by a truck last year and damaged. The repairs will increase the support and extend the life of the 85th Street bridge.
The repairs are expected to be completed by early October.
