Brief traffic delays at Highway 61 Canadian Pacific Railway bridge Sept. 30-Oct. 3 near Red Wing

RED WING, Minn. – Highway 61 motorists may experience brief traffic delays Sept. 30-Oct. 3 at the Canadian Pacific Railway south of Red Wing while crews complete final touches on bridge, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Flaggers will stop traffic so vehicles will take turns traveling in a single lane through the work zone to allow crews to safely complete work. Crews will be installing equipment on and around the bridge and touching up painted areas.

Final paving was completed in April. Work in 2024 included demolition of the old bridge, paving, sign placement and striping. The Highway 61/Golf Links Drive intersection was shifted roughly 500 feet to the northwest to allow for a new left turn lane to be constructed. A new left turn lane was constructed at the Wylie Wilson Trucking entrance. A new continuous left turn lane was constructed to provide a turn lane for the USG and Cemstone entrances.
