ROSEVILLE, Minn. –As summer turns to fall, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will wash a summer’s worth of accumulated dirt, grime and debris from the Interstate 94 Lowry Hill Tunnel on the south edge of downtown Minneapolis early next week.  Both directions of I-94 through the Lowry Hill Tunnel will be closed overnight Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 29 and 30, from 10 p.m. each night until 5:00 a.m. the following morning between Groveland Ave. and Highway 55, for cleaning and repairs.

aintenance crews also will close the ramps from

  • Northbound I-35W to westbound I-94
  • Highway 55/Hiawatha Ave. to eastbound I-94
  • Eastbound I-394 to eastbound I-94

During the closures, all traffic will use the prohibited vehicle route to detour around the closure.
