MnDOT invites community to learn about future Highway 24 bridge project in Clearwater on Monday, Sept. 29

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites Clearwater-area residents and travelers to a public meeting to learn about plans to rebuild the Highway 24 bridge that spans Interstate 94 in Wright County.

The event will be held Monday, Sept. 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lions Park Pavilion, 1100 County Road 75, Clearwater.

There’s no formal presentation—just stop by anytime to view project displays, ask questions and talk with the project team.

This project is in partnership with the City of Clearwater and Wright County and will improve safety, traffic flow, and access through Clearwater. Final design work will continue through 2025, with construction expected to begin in summer 2026 and wrap up by late fall 2027.
Improvements include:

  • Build a new Highway 24 bridge over I-94, southeast of the current bridge
  • Reconstruct Highway 24 from Wright County Road 145 (179th Street) to Smith Street
  • Improve access and traffic flow with:
    • Two roundabouts at the I-94 westbound and eastbound ramps
    • A teardrop-style roundabout at Highway 24 and Wright County Road 145
    • New road approaches at Ash Street and Nelson Drive
  • Extend the multi-use trail and sidewalks between County Road 145 and County Road 75
  • Connect with Wright County’s roundabout project at Highway 24 and County Road 7
